Gwillim Named North Division Star of the Week

JOHNSTOWN, PA – The Johnstown Tomahawks are proud to announce that goaltender Jake Gwillim has been named the North Division Star of the Week. Gwillim helped the Tomahawks take two of three games from the Soo Eagles.

Gwillim closed out Friday night’s 3-0 victory over the Eagles, after starting goaltender Nick DeSimmone left the game due to injury. Gwillim stopped three shots in the final 5:57 to secure the shutout victory.

On Saturday, the Swartz Creek, Mich. native stopped 31 of 33 shots in a 3-2 win. The victory was Gwillim’s first since stopping 45 of 50 shots in a win at Springfield Jan. 29.

Gwillim closed out the weekend stopping 31 of 33 shots in a 2-1 loss on Sunday afternoon.

This season, Gwillim has appeared in 20 games for the Tomahawks, going 7-5-3 with a .904 save percentage.

Defenseman Alex Jaeckle was named an honorable mention for the award, after scoring two goals and adding an assist against the Eagles.

The Tomahawks close out the regular season with a home-and-home series against the Keystone Ice Miners. The Tomahawks visit Keystone Friday night, before closing out the regular season at home on Saturday night. Face-off is set for 7 p.m. here at the War Memorial.
