Hawks Drop Second of Three Against Rebels

Apr 7, 2023

The Johnstown Tomahawks fall to the Philadelphia Rebels by a final of 6-1 Friday night at Hollydell Ice Arena in the second of three games this weekend.

The game started off physical, with coincidental roughing minors going to Anthony Galante and Carter Casper just ten seconds into the game. As Justin Rapp was in the box for interference, Johnny Ulicny put one behind Jakub Krbecek for a shorthanded goal and a 1-0 Johnstown lead to end the first period.

The Tomahawks started the second period on the power play as David Deputy was called for slashing at the very end of the opening period. With one second remaining on the power play, Drake Albers found the back of the net, but the goal was immediately called off and play continued. Philadelphia got on the board 6:46 into the second period as the Tomahawks misplayed the puck, putting it in their own net. Brock Jones was credited with his fifth goal of the season for the Rebels. The Tomahawks had two power play opportunities later in the second period but were not able to convert on either, sending the game to the third period tied at 1.

Jones got his second goal of the game in the third period, followed by goals from Tyler Stern and Kristians Samitis to give the Rebels a 4-1 lead. Charles Panchisin secured the win with an empty net goal late and then another one with 16 seconds remaining to lift his team to a 6-1 win over the Tomahawks.

The final game of the weekend at Hollydell Ice Arena will be tomorrow afternoon at 3 PM live on HockeyTV.
