Johnstown, PA – The Tomahawks (32-13-2-2) extended their winning-streak 6 on Tuesday night, as they triumphed 6-3 over Maine (20-30-2-0).
Head Coach Mike Letiza now rests only 2 wins away from his 200th career win. 1,256 fans and over 80 dogs attended the the annual Pucks & Paws event.
It only took Johnstown three-minutes and 32 seconds into the first period to get on the scoresheet. A rebound goal by Colin Price (North Ridgeville, OH) with the assist from Carson Grainer (Livonia, MI) and Andrew Murphy (Youngstown, OH).
The lead was short lived as the Nordiques made a come back 30 seconds later from a goal by Noah Kane.
Andrew Murphy scored his 11th goal of the season assisted from Colin Price and Malik Alishlalov (Moscow, RUS).
All the goals in the second period came in a two-minute span. The Nordiques scored two quick goals 25 seconds apart. before Johnstown’s Jesse Lycan (San Diego, CA) scored sixty seconds later to head into the third tied at 3.
Goaltender Alex Tracy came in relief of injured Tomeo late in the second period and stopped all 23 shots directed at him. Scoring the game-winning goal, was Johnstown’s assistant captain, Carson Gallagher (Courtice, ON) on powerful slap shot from the blueline, capturing his 2nd PPG of the weekend. Increasing Johnstown’s goal count, Reed Stark (Suffern, NY) scored his 4th goal of the season, followed by an empty-net goal by Jesse Lycan.
The Tomahawks complete the season series against the first year franchise with a 6-2 record.
