GAME SUMMARY
A fast start, a stellar penalty kill and a timely third-period comeback lead Johnstown to a 3-2 win over 6th-ranked Jamestown on Friday night as the Tomahawks continue their climb to 1st place in the East Division.
With it’s 16th home win of the season, Letizia’s team improve to a 29-13-2-2 overall record and remain in a tight race for first place just 7 points behind division leader NJ Titans.
Three Hawks veterans played a leading role in the win. Pavel Kharin (Ypsilanti, MI) opened the scoring 3:47 minutes into the game, while Christian Gorscak (Jeanette PA) collected his 21tst goal and Bennett Stockdale (Ottawa ONT) tallied the winning goal with just minutes to play in the game.
Power forward and Maine commit, Tristan Poissant (Les Coteaux QC) tallied a pair of assists in the last frame, including a beautiful cross ice pass to Stockdale for the game deciding goal.
Hawks goaltender David Tomeo (West Caldwell, NJ) backstopped 24 of 26 shots he faced to pick up his 17th win of the season.
Jamestown outshot Johnstown 26-19 while going 0-6 against the Hawks excellent penalty kill.
