Mar 31, 2023

The Johnstown Tomahawks defeated the Maine Nordiques 7-0 on Friday night, securing win number 300 for Head Coach Mike Letizia on the road in Lewiston, Maine. The win was highlighted by a hat trick from Nick Ahern and a shutout from netminder Alec Rajalin-Scharp.

Nick Ahern started things off for Johnstown with a power play goal coming 12:19 into the first period. Four and a half minutes later Ahern found the back of the net again for his second of the game and 12th of the season to give the Tomahawks a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.

3:21 into the second period Andrew King extends the lead to 3 for Johnstown as he scores his second goal of the season. After a quiet second period, Dylan Shane nets his first goal of his NAHL career with 2:51 remaining in the period, giving the Tomahawks a 4-0 lead to start the third period.

The Tomahawks wasted no time firing shots at Maine netminder Tommy Heaney in the third period as Drake Albers netted his 21st of the season and Nick Ahern secured the hat trick just 14 seconds apart within the first two minutes of the period. Ahern’s third ended the night for Heaney as Kael Depape headed in between the pipes for the Nordiques. Just under two minutes after Depape entered the net, Will Moore got one behind the fresh netminder to extend the lead to 7 for Johnstown as they show total offensive control. With 11:56 remaining in regulation, Anthony Galante was awarded a penalty shot, but Depape made the save, keeping the score at 7-0. The Nordiques fought to the very end, but were unable to solve Tomahawks netminder Alec Rajalin-Scharp, giving him the shutout in a 7-0 win Friday night.

The two teams close out the weekend series tomorrow night at The Colisee with a 7 pm puck drop. Catch the action live on HockeyTV.
