Nov 24, 2015

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Johnstown Tomahawks are proud to announce that NHL Legend, Hockeyville spokesperson and current NBC analyst, Jeremy Roenick will make a special appearance in Johnstown on Saturday, Dec. 5.

A native of Boston, nine time NHL All-Star, Roenick had a prolific career playing 18 seasons in the NHL with 5 teams, including the Chicago Blackhawks and Philadelphia Flyers. Roenick is considered one of the greatest US born players of all time with over 500 NHL goals. He represented the United States Olympic hockey team on two occasions, leading Team USA to a silver medal in 2002.

The appearance is presented by WJACTV, The Tribune-Democrat and Forever Broadcasting, and sponsored in part by Woodside Bar & Grill, Roxbury Tire Center, Danchanko Inc., Scott’s by Dam, Flair of Country Catering and VisitJohnstownPA.com.

“After seeing the incredible support and enthusiasm from the Johnstown Hockey community during the Hockeyville contest, I’m looking forward to coming back, interacting with fans, visit the town and promote my new book,” said Roenick.

Roenick will drop the ceremonial puck for the Tomahawks Dec 5th game at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena against the New Jersey Titans and sign autographs during the game.

“For us it’s two fold, first we are providing an opportunity for our fans to interact with an NHL great and secondly it’s a chance for the community to show their appreciation to Mr Roenick for being a strong advocate of our little town on national TV during every stage of the contest,” said Tomahawks Director of Business Operations Jean Desrochers.

Following the Tomahawks game, Roenick will make a unique appearance and serve as celebrity bartender at Woodside Bar & Grill. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Caring for Kids Foundation.

“Our patrons are accustomed to watching NHL stars on our big screens, it’s an honor to have a celebrity in person at our establishment. We are excited to team up with an NHL legend to benefit a great cause” said Woodside Bar & Grill owner Rob Barmoy.

While here in town, Roenick will be promoting his new book, “Shoot First, Pass Later.” The book chronicles stories from his 20-year career, while providing a perspective on life as a pro athlete.
