The Johnstown Tomahawks fall to the Maryland Black Bears by a final of 6-1 in the first of three games on the weekend in Odenton, Maryland.
Christian Catalano opened the scoring for the Maryland Black Bears 10:43 into the first period with his 27th goal of the season, followed by another goal from Luke Van Why seven minutes later. David Matousek responded later in the period for the Tomahawks with his ninth goal of the season, leaving Maryland with a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.
Caleb Craven netted his first goal of the season for Maryland 2:33 into the second period. Catalano netted his second goal of the game two minutes after Craven to give the Black Bears a 4-1 lead in the second period. Brad McNeil and Sean Kilcullen added on goals for Maryland in the middle frame for a 6-1 Black Bears lead going into the third period.
After a scoreless third period, Maryland came away with the 6-1 win on Friday night.
