Johnstown Secures Four Points Against Danbury

The Tomahawks secured a weekend sweep at home against the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks with a high-scoring 8-6 win on Saturday night, with Captain Holt Oliphant playing in his 100th game for the Tomahawks.

Danbury opened the scoring 2:30 into the game Saturday night with a goal from Lucas Di Chiara, followed by a goal from Gabe Dombrowski three minutes later, giving the Jr. Hat Tricks and early 2-0 lead. The Tomahawks responded not long after with a goal of their own coming from Jacob Badal, scoring his 15th goal of the season. At the 12:42 mark, Badal cruised down the ice, splitting the Danbury defense to tie the game at 2 along with his second goal of the game. Jake Black gave the Tomahawks the lead before headed to the locker room, scoring his 36th goal of the season to put Johnstown up 3-2 with 1:53 left on the clock.

The 2nd period saw a lot of scoring, with Danbury outscoring Johnstown 4-3 in the middle frame. Gavin Klaassen got his first NAHL goal at the 6:23 mark, along with Black joining Badal with two goals on the night and Zachary Murray netting his fourth goal of the weekend. Despite all the action, the game was tied at 6 to end the period.

The Tomahawks came out victorious, with the game winning goal going to Cole Bianchin 7:34 into 3rd period, followed by an insurance goal going to Black, securing the hat trick along with an 8-6 win.

The Tomahawks head back out on the road to Jamestown, New York next weekend for two games against the Rebels on Friday, March 25 and Saturday, March 26.
