Johnstown Tomahawks Captain Ryan Vellucci has committed to play college hockey at Adrian College!

The ‘02 forward is headed to the home of the four-time NCAA DIII National Champions, Adrian Bulldogs. Located in Adrian, Michigan, Adrian College Hockey is known as a top-tier Division III program with multiple appearances at the NCAA DIII Frozen 4.

“We are extremely proud of Ryan for his commitment to Adrian,” said Johnstown Tomahawks Head Coach, Mike Letizia. “He was a very strong member of our organization for the last two seasons as well as a few games as an affiliate player in 2020-2021. He made tremendous strides as a player here leading him to being our captain this past year. He was a selfless player that took pride in all areas of the game contributing to our team in multiple ways. Additionally, his work off the ice was second to none as he was outstanding whenever he visited different entities in the Johnstown community as a part of the Tomahawks. We are going to miss him in Johnstown, but wish him nothing but the best as he moves into the next phase of his life at Adrian.”

The Michigan native dressed in 124 games for the Johnstown Tomahawks since becoming an affiliate player during the 2021-2022 season. Vellucci accounted for 16 goals and 30 assists, 46 points during his time in Johnstown. The forward was also selected for the 2023 NAHL Top Prospect tournament.

“I’m excited to announce that I have committed to Adrian College next year. I’m grateful for the opportunity to further my hockey and academic career at Adrian” said, Vellucci. I want to thank the Johnstown Tomahawks organization, Coach Letizia, and my teammates for an incredible 2 years. Good luck to the guys next year!”

Prior to his tenure with the Tomahawks, Vellucci spent time with Victory Honda 18u AAA as well as Little Caesars 18u AAA. The Captain also appeared in the Johnstown Tomahawks Robertson Cup Playoff campaign in 2022 where he had an assist. Known as a leader both on and off the ice, Vellucci’s talents will be missed in Johnstown but the organization is proud to see him suit up as a Bulldog this Fall.
