Johnstown Tomahawks Suffer a 5-2 Defeat to Amarillo in the 2023 NAHL Showcase Finale

The Johnstown Tomahawks fall to the Amarillo Wranglers, 5-2 in the final game of the 2023 NAHL Showcase.

The opening period commenced with a sluggish pace, but midway through, the Wranglers managed to break the deadlock, taking a 1-0 lead. Although the Tomahawks had several power-play chances, they couldn’t capitalize on them. As the period concluded, the Tomahawks found themselves trailing the Wranglers by a score of 1-0 as they headed to the locker room.

As the second period began with the Tomahawks trailing by a goal, managed to level the score thanks to a goal by Jeremy Lacroix assisted by Alex Legkov and Owen Van Tassel. Nevertheless, the Wranglers quickly responded with two goals, scored within a mere twenty seconds of each other. Despite a strong effort by the Tomahawks to stage a comeback, the Wranglers sealed the period with a buzzer-beating goal, resulting in a 4-1 score at the conclusion of the second period.

The third period started with a goal for the Johnstown Tomahawks, courtesy of Captain Zach Aben, with an assist from Reid Lune, narrowing the score to 4-2 in favor of the Wranglers. However, Amarillo would add another goal to their tally, further extending their lead and securing the 5-2 victory in the game.

Next weekend, the Johnstown Tomahawks are set to travel to Philadelphia for back-to-back games against the Rebels.
