JOHNSTOWN TOMAHAWKS SUFFER A 5-4 OVERTIME LOSS TO THE ROCHESTER JR. AMERICANS

The Johnstown Tomahawks fall to the Rochester Jr.  Americans, 4-5 on Saturday night

The Johnstown Tomahawks and the Jr. Americans both had strong starts to the game. Jacob Osborne started in net tonight against the Jr. Americans. Davis Ross’ first goal as a Tomahawk put Johnstown on the scoreboard first. Soon after, Alex Legkov added another goal on the power- play to give the Hawks a two-goal advantage. However, Rochester managed to squeak in two goals tying the game. After 20 minutes of play, both teams headed into their respected locker rooms at a tie game.

With the score tied at two, the Tomahawks had a great start to the second period and maintained good puck control. The Hawks were able to bring out their power-play unit once again with 11:23 left in the period. With just 3 minutes and 42 seconds remaining, Justin Rapp was able to add one to the scoreboard, making it 3-2 for the Tomahawks as the period came to a close.

As the third period began, the Tomahawks were not able to hang on to their lead as the Jr. Americans scored two goals early on. The Tomahawks did not give up and continued to put on a good fight. With just 1 minute and 16 seconds left, Justin Gibson tied the game. The Johnstown Tomahawks and the Rochester Jr. Americans headed to overtime. 

After a hard fought game between the two team, Rochester took the lead in overtime. 

The Johnstown Tomahawks are set to take on the New Jersey Titans next weekend on home ice at the 1ST SUMMIT arena. Mark your calendars for the Breast Cancer Awareness game. Taking place, Saturday, October 13 at 7:30 p.m. followed by another game against the Titans on Sunday, October 14 at 7:00 p.m.
