Knights Best Tomahawks in Close Contest

PITTSTON, Pa – The Johnstown Tomahawks’ comeback attempt late in the third period fell short as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights earned a 3-2 win Friday night at the Revolution Ice Centre.

Johnstown surrendered the game’s first goal late in the opening period when Paul Maust backhanded a puck through the wickets of Tomahawks goalie Drew Hotte. Khristian Acosta and Mike Gelatt assisted on the goal.

After the first intermission, the Knights gained control of the game as Johnstown got into penalty trouble.

Knights forward Sam Antonitsch tallied a goal at 2:20 of the second period. Antonitsch’s seventh goal of the season was helped by Michael Morrissey and Keenan Sabatini.

Sabatini added a goal of his own on the power play at 8:37 of the second period to bring the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton lead to 3-0.

Johnstown gained momentum and chipped away at the Knights lead late in the third period.

The Tomahawks made it a 3-1 score when Nick Bruce deflected a Zak Galambos point shot on the power play. Filips Buncis picked up the secondary assist on Bruce’s eighth of the season.

One minute later, Tommy Horn cut the lead to 3-2 with his fourth goal of the season. Hayden Rowan and Sam Solensky assisted on the goal.

The comeback bid from the Tomahawks fell short as the Tomahawks fell to the Knights 3-2.

Valentine picked up his seventh win of the season with the vcitory in net tonight. Hotte picked up the loss moving his record to 5-4-1 on the season.

Both teams are back in action tomorrow as the Tomahawks and Knights will faceoff at 7:30 p.m. at the Revolution Ice Centre.
