The Johnstown Tomahawks are proud to announce that forward Casey Linkenheld has been named the Easton Hockey NAHL North Division Star of the Week, for the week ending January 4, 2015. Linkenheld finished the week with seven points (6 goals, 1 assist), helping the Tomahawks earn six of eight points against Fairbanks and Kenai River.
Linkenheld started the week with a goal in the 6-3 loss against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs on Dec. 30. He also registered a +1 in the 3-1 victory against the Ice Dogs on New Year’s Eve.
In the first game against the Kenai River Brown Bears on Friday night, Linkenheld scored three goals, including the game winner, in a 5-3 victory. The hat trick was the team’s first since Jordan Watt had a pair of hat tricks in consecutive games last February.
He followed the performance with two more goals and another assist on Saturday night, as the Tomahawks swept the Brown Bears with a 5-2 win.
“We had a very important week of games coming out of Christmas break against tough teams and Casey elevated his game and led our offensive charge with his goal scoring, said Tomahawks head coach Mike Letizia.
“He has been playing very well for us and it was nice to see those contributions coupled with some big wins for our team. He and his linemates were playing 200 feet and creating a lot off offense from solid play in the other zones as well. We are going to look for continued production as we move forward and I think he is up to the challenge.”
Linkenheld leads the team with 13 goals and is third on the team with 22 points (13 goals, 9 assists). He has surpassed his 2013-14 season total of eight points (three goals, 5 assists) in 21 games.
The Tomahawks host Keystone this Friday and Springfield this Saturday and Sunday. Face-off is set for 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 1 p.m. on Sunday. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit www.johnstowntomahawks.com or call 814-536-GOAL.
