Local Businesses Sponsor Free Tickets For Veterans

Mar 19, 2014

Wessel & Company is partnering with the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies, H.F. Lenz, Martin Baker America, and Laurel Management to give 175 veterans a free ticket voucher for the Johnstown Tomahawks game on Sunday March 23rd at 3 p.m. The first 175 veterans who visit the Wessel and Company table in the lobby on Sunday and talk to a member of the Conemaugh Valley Veterans or the Marine Corps League will receive a free ticket voucher. They can then take the voucher to the box office to redeem it for their free ticket. For additional information on the veterans ticket vouchers, contact the Tomahawks office at 814-536-4625.

While honoring veterans and giving them an opportunity to experience the excitement of Johnstown Tomahawks hockey, this event provides an opportunity for the Conemaugh Valley Veterans, the Marine Corp League Attachment 287, the Franklin VFW, and Veterans Memorial Monument, Inc. to provide information on the Sgt. Michael Strank project. Strank, a Franklin Borough native, was one of five marines who helped raise a flag during the Battle of Iwo Jima. The organizations are working to create a documentary about Sgt. Strank’s life, along with creating a monument of the flag raising to place in the Franklin Borough Veterans Park.
