McPhail Nets Star of the Week Honors

Nov 12, 2018

JOHNSTOWN – For the third consecutive week, a Johnstown Tomahawks player earned the Bauer East Division Star of the Week honor.
Tomahawks goaltender Carter McPhail has been named the East Division Star of the Week for the week ending Nov. 11, 2018.
The native of Fenton, Mich., earned three wins while surrendering just four goals in a 3-2 win at Jamestown followed by a weekend sweep of the Maryland Black Bears. The sweep extended the team’s winning streak to 10 games and McPhail’s personal winning streak to seven.
At Jamestown, McPhail backstopped the Tomahawks to a close 3-2 win over the Rebels, stopping 32 of 25 shots on goal.
Friday, Nov. 9, McPhail stopped 40 of 41 shots on goal in Johnstown’s 6-1 win over Maryland. He followed that performance up the following night with a 22-save contest in a 2-1 shootout win.
“Carter played a big hand in our three wins this week as he started all three games and was great in all three of them, including a shootout victory on Saturday,” head coach Mike Letizia said. “Each night, he gave our team a chance to win and made some big saves along the way. The best thing about Carter is that his number one focus is winning hockey games for the team and letting everything else take care of itself. He has a great work ethic and I am very happy to see him be recognized for his hard work.”
The Tomahawks continue their home stand Friday, Nov. 16 at a special start time of 8:05 p.m., against the New Jersey Titans. Admiral Peary Vo-Tech presents a Christmas Ornament giveaway while supplies last.
Saturday, Nov. 17 is the team’s second annual Star Wars Night presented by Beginnings, Inc. Fans are encouraged to dress up as their favorite character from the award-winning movie franchise. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
