Mike Sandor Commits to Simon Fraser University

 

JOHNSTOWN, PA – The Johnstown Tomahawks are proud to announce that former Tomahawks forward Mike Sandor has committed to join the Simon Fraser University (SFU) Men’s Ice Hockey team for the 2013-14 season.

 

Sandor, a native of North Vancouver, will return to his native province and join his older brother Nick at SFU, which is located in Burnaby, B.C. Simon Fraser University was the 2011 British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League Champion. For more information on their program, please visit www.sfuhockey.com.

 

In announcing the news, SFU Head Coach Mark Coletta said, “We think Mike will fit in very well with our group. He plays on both sides of the puck and is a very well-rounded player . . . We expect to see nothing but great things from the Sandor brothers this season.”

 

Sandor previously played junior hockey with the Penticton Lakers (KIJHL) and Victoria Grizzlies (BCHL) before donning a Tomahawks uniforms for 44 games.

 

Sandor is the seventh Tomahawks player to join a college program. Previously, Casey Nelson (Minnesota State University-Mankato), Ian Spencer (University of Vermont), Chris Truehl (Air Force Academy), Matt Williams (Lake Forest College), Mitch Kontny (University of Wisconsin-River Falls), and Jeff Bergh (University of Wisconsin-River Falls) committed to further their careers at the collegiate level.
