Murray’s Hat Trick Lifts Johnstown Over Danbury

The Johnstown Tomahawks defeated the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks Friday night in Johnstown by a final score of 5-2. The game was highlighted by the return of defenseman Mack Oliphant and a Zachary Murray hat trick.

Danbury started the game off with a power play goal from Gabe Dombrowski just 45 seconds into the game, which would be the only goal of the 1st period.

Johnstown came out flying in the 2nd period with three power play goals in the middle frame, with two coming from Zachary Murray and one from Frank Jenkins. Danbury’s Logan Nickerson ended the period scoring with just 11 seconds remaining, sending the game to the 3rd period with Johnstown up by one.

Murray scored his third goal of the game and 21st goal of the season 7:08 into the 3rd  to extend the Tomahawks lead to 4-2. Braedon Ford sealed the deal for the Tomahawks with an empty net goal, giving Johnstown a 5-2 win Friday night.
