JOHNSTOWN – The Johnstown Tomahawks are proud to announce that forward Anthony Parrucci has been named the East Division Star of the Week for the week ending Sept. 20. Parrucci scored three goals and added an assist, helping the Tomahawks split their opening weekend games at Wilkes/Barre-Scranton and New Jersey.

On Friday night, Parrucci scored two goals and added an assist in a 7-3 season-opening victory over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights. Parrucci scored the game-winning goal with five seconds remaining in the second period, while adding a goal and an assist in the third period.

Parrucci continued where he left off on Saturday, scoring a third period goal against New Jersey.

“Anthony is a very good power forward. He has great size, great speed, but his compete level is what stands out to me. This weekend he showed he could play at this level and be a big time player,” said Tomahawks head coach Mike Letizia.

Parrucci joined the Tomahawks after scoring five points (two goals, three assists) in 39 games for the Michigan Warriors last season.

The Tomahawks open the 2015 North American Hockey League Showcase Wednesday afternoon against the Corpus Christi Ice Rays. Face-off is set for 2:30 p.m. EST at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minn.

Johnstown opens its 2015-16 home schedule Oct. 16 and 17 against New Jersey. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit www.johnstowntomahawks.com or call 814-536-GOAL (4625).
