Pay it forward: 2019-20 unused Johnstown Tomahawks tickets to find welcoming home among local health care workers next season.
Organization seeking help from fans!
The NAHL announced earlier this month that it was canceling the remainder of the season as a result of the ongoing pandemic crisis. As a result, the Tomahawks organization lost 5 revenue generating home games at 1ST SUMMIT Arena and a guaranteed first round home ice advantage. The financial impact will be significant and the team is turning to fans for help in this time of crisis
“We are looking at ways to keep our customers happy, lessen the financial burden and at the same time reward the brave men and women in hospital uniform fighting this crisis” said local minority team owner Craig Saylor
The Tomahawks Organization in partnership with several local health care industries including Conemaugh Hospital and Chan Soon-Shiong Medical Center are seeking the help of fans and season ticket holders to convert their unused 2019-20 tickets into a donation to health care professionals for next season.
“It’s a small gesture for the health care professionals, but it shows the community coming together to support them” adds Saylor
“Our partnerships with these local hospitals and the Community Foundation for The Alleghenies has been essential to our operations”
Fans will donate their tickets to the Team/CFA Tomahawks Fund and receive an in-kind tax donation for the value of the tickets. The team will work with the foundation and the local hospitals and other affected industries to issue tickets to employees for their desired 2020-21 games.
“Fans receive an in-kind donation deduction, the team lessens the financial impact, and both actions reward health care professionals in the process”
continues Saylor. “It’s a win-win for everyone and the team also plans to match each donation”
