Pilewicz, Bokun Earn Points in East Division Win

PLYMOUTH, Mich. –The East Division defeated the Midwest Division 4-2 in day two of the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament Tuesday morning at the USA Hockey Arena.

The East Division got the scoring started when New Jersey Titans forward Gordie Helmuth buried a rebound behind Midwest goalie Jake Action (Minnesota Magicians). Tomahawks defenseman Adam Pilewicz assisted on the goal.

Aston’s Drew Blackmun score at 11:27 of the first period to increase the East advantage to 2-0 before Kenai River defenseman Chris Lipe cut the East lead to 2-1 as the period came to a close.

Neither team scored in the second period as the physicality picked up.

The Midwest Division tied the game at 2:29 of the third period when Springfield Jr. Blues forward Brennan Blaszczak beat East goalie Ryan Snowden.

From there, the East took control with numerous chances on net.

Titans forward Danny Eruzione made it 3-2 at 16:01 of the third and then Tomahawks defenseman Daniil Bokun scored an empty-net goal to set the final at 4-2.

The Tomahawks return to regular season play on Friday, March 3 against the Aston Rebels at the IceWorks Skating Complex. Johnstown comes back to the War Memorial St. Patrick’s Day Weekend (March 17-18) against Aston. The team will wear specialty Irish jerseys presented by the Holiday Inn.
