Springfield Jr. Blues at Johnstown Tomahawks

          Tonight, the Tomahawks look to pick up the weekend sweep against the Springfield Jr. Blues on Military Appreciation night. The Tomahawks defeated the Jr. Blues 5-1 on Friday night, with all five Johnstown goals being scored in the first two periods.

Omar Mullan was credited with the first goal, scoring less than four minutes into the first period. Later in the period Matthew Meier extended the lead to 2-0 at 16:17. Tommy Hall picked up the second assist, his first point as a Tomahawk. Bednard made it a three-goal game, scoring 41 seconds into the second period. He added his second goal of the game at 7:49.

Brandon Reinholz got the Tomahawks final goal, scoring at 16:57. Mike Severson broke up the shut-out 47 seconds into the third period to set the final score at 5-1.

Alex Okicki earned the win, stopping 20 of 21 shots. Stefanos Lekkas took the loss, allowing four goals. Sandro Aeschlimann relieved Lekkas and allowed one goal. The Tomahawks outshot the Jr. Blues 30-21, including 15-5 in the final period.

The Tomahawks hold sole possession of third place, seven points behind Port Huron and one point behind Michigan. They lead Springfield by two points, Soo by four points and Janesville by six points.

Following tonight’s game, Johnstown welcomes the Wenatchee Wild to the War Memorial next Friday & Saturday.
