Rebels Comeback To Down Tomahawks

Mar 18, 2016

The Aston Rebels used a third period comeback to defeat the Johnstown Tomahawks 3-2 Friday night at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena.

Johnstown wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. Andrew Romano buried a Luke Lynch rebound past the glove side of Rebels goaltender Darion Hanson to give the Tomahawks a 1-0 lead.

Goalie Andrew Lindgren was forced to make difficult saves throughout the first period but held strong and the team took a one-goal lead into the intermission.

The Tomahawks came out flying in the second and gained a 2-0 lead. Up on the man advantage, Lynch deflected a Ryan Burr wrist shot from the point past Hanson for his 26th goal of the season.

Aston got into the game seconds later when Dom Garcia wristed a shot behind Lindgren. The goal went unassisted and the Tomahawks carried a 2-1 lead into the second intermission. The Tomahawks earned a power play opportunity late in the third period.

The Rebels tied the game eight minutes into the third when Chris Deprez found the five-hole of Lindgren.

Frank Spellman gave Aston its first lead of the evening with his 14th goal of the season and the game-winning goal.

In victory, Hanson stopped 21 of 23 Tomahawks shots for his 19th win of the season. Lindgren picked up the loss for a record of 13-8-1.
