The contest between the two Pennsylvania rivals quickly turned in the Rebels’ favor, as they found the back of the net just 4:38 into the game, scoring the only goal of the opening period. Despite several chances, the Tomahawks couldn’t capitalize in the first 20 minutes, leaving them trailing 1-0.
Early in the second period, the Tomahawks answered back. Five minutes in, Tate Pecknold, making his Tomahawks debut tied the game at one with his goal, assisted by Hank Reed and Sean Morgan. The equalizer injected energy into the Tomahawks’ play, but the Rebels were quick to regain control. Just two minutes later, they reclaimed their lead. Before the period ended, they added another goal, closing the second period with a 3-1 lead and keeping the pressure firmly on the Tomahawks heading into the third.
The score remained unchanged in the third period as the Rebels secured a 3-1 victory over the Tomahawks. Tomahawks’ goaltender Tommy O’Donnell made 40 saves on 43 shots.
