Solensky Announces Commitment to Bemidji State

JOHNSTOWN – The Johnstown Tomahawks, proud members of the North American Hockey League, announced Tuesday that forward Sam Solensky has committed to Division I Bemidji State University.
Solensky leads the NAHL in scoring with 30 points (10 goals, 20 assists) and is the reigning Forward of the Month.
Located in Bemidji, Minn., the Beavers compete in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. Bemidji State has sent numerous alumni to the NHL including Matt Read, Joel Otto and Brad Hunt.
“Seeing Sammy receive the opportunity to play Division 1 hockey is truly a proud moment,” head coach Mike Letizia said. “Ever since he came to Johnstown he has been an outstanding hockey player, and an exceptional person. His dedication to our team has been remarkable. I could not be happier for Sammy for this fantastic achievement. He has earned the opportunity to get a great deal of interest from the next level, and Bemidji State will be as lucky as we are in Johnstown to have Sammy join their program next year.”
The Tomahawks faceoff against the Jamestown Rebels in a Wednesday night showdown at Northwest Arena in Jamestown, NY. Faceoff is set for 7:05 p.m.
Johnstown is back on home ice Friday and Saturday, Nov. 9-10 for Military Appreciation Weekend against the Maryland Black Bears. All active duty and veterans may receive a free ticket at the gate with presentation of a valid Military ID.
