Nov 1, 2018

JOHNSTOWN – Johnstown Tomahawks forward Sam Solensky closed out the month of October by earning the North American Hockey League’s Forward of the Month award.
The Michalovce, Slovakia native earned 16 points (six goals, 10 assists) in October, including two games with three points or more and two power play goals.
“Sammy had an outstanding October for us averaging two points per game for the month but also as a leader demonstrating his tenacious work ethic and willingness to do whatever it takes to win,” head coach Mike Letizia said. “He seemed to take his game to another level each weekend and was a driving force to our success. I am extremely proud of him for being recognized as the NAHL forward of the month and he should be equally as proud because he is very deserving.”
In October, Solensky became the Tomahawks all-time assists leader, passing alumnus Casey Linkenheld’s 56 career assists plateau on Saturday, Oct. 27 with a four-assist performance against the Northeast Generals.
The Tomahawks return to the road on Thursday, Nov. 1 for an afternoon contest at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton at 2:30 p.m.
Johnstown is back on home ice on Friday, Nov. 9 for the start of Military Appreciation Weekend against the Maryland Black Bears. All active duty and veterans may receive a free ticket at the gate with presentation of a valid Military ID. Saturday, Nov. 10 is also the team’s traditional Scout Night.
