Stanley Cup Champion Tyler Kennedy To Drop First Puck, Meet Fans on Friday, Jan. 5!

JOHNSTOWN –The Johnstown Tomahawks are proud to announce that former Pittsburgh Penguins forward and 2009 Stanley Cup Champion Tyler Kennedy will drop the ceremonial first puck and meet fans during the Friday, Jan. 5 home game at 7:30 p.m. against the Kenai River Brown Bears.
Kennedy, a native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, was a key member of the Penguins for six seasons, capturing the Stanley Cup in 2009. He was selected by the Penguins in the fourth round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
After six seasons in Pittsburgh, Kennedy saw action with San Jose, the New York Islanders and New Jersey before retiring after the 2015-16 season.
Kennedy’s appearance is presented in part by Everett Railroad, Second Chance Fundraising and Vatavuk’s Diner. Kennedy will be on hand to sign autographs and meet fans through the second intermission during the game.
Friday, Jan. 5 is also Health + Wellness Night presented by Highmark. The first 500 fans will receive a free stress puck!
The Tomahawk are back home on December 30-31 for the annual New Year’s Eve game, when Johnstown hosts the Fairbanks Ice Dogs.
On December 30, 2017 it’s Guaranteed Win Night presented by Pennsylvania Lottery. Fans are guaranteed to win prizes with the scratch-off ticket giveaway (first 2,000 fans). There will also be a PA Lottery BOGO coupons and Team Calendar Giveaway. Puck drops at 7 p.m.
The following night, December 31, 2017 at a special 6 p.m. start time, it’s New Year’s Eve Celebrations presented by Coors Light. The team will wear specialty New Year’s -themed jerseys courtesy of Scott’s By Dam.
There will be post game celebrations with the players followed by festivities at Central Park, in downtown Johnstown.
