Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren will make a public appearance in Johnstown on Wednesday, March 20. The Tomahawks announced today that Warren will be on hand for a private pregame event as well as a free meet and greet during the first period of the Tomahawks game. The event is presented by GAPVAX, Inc.
“We’ve never had a Steeler on the active roster come for an appearance, so it’ll be a special night,” said Derek Partsch, Tomahawks Director of Business Operations. “Any time you get a player like Jaylen, it’s always going to be fun. He’s a young, energetic guy and that excitement will carry over into our game” Partsch added, “Jaylen has a bright future in Pittsburgh. We had the opportunity to get him, and we had to jump at it.”
The evening will begin with a 90-minute, private VIP event with Warren inside 1ST SUMMIT ARENA. Warren will then drop the ceremonial “first puck” prior to the start of the Tomahawks game against the rival Maryland Black Bears. Partsch says, “After puck drop, Jaylen will be doing a free meet and greet for fans behind section 9. He’s scheduled to be here ‘til the start of the second period.” Fans will not be required to purchase a meet-and-greet ticket to meet Jaylen, unlike other celebrities in the past. “Fans do not need to purchase any special meet and greet tickets, but we will be on a very strict time limit”, Partsch said. Autograph restrictions may also be in place but will be announced later.
A limited number of seats at the private event are available and can be booked by emailing derek@johnstowntomahawks.com. VIP tickets will be sold on a first-come first-served basis.
The Tomahawks are riding a six-game home win streak and will host the Danbury Junior Hat Tricks this weekend. Legendary NBC Sportscaster Bob Costas will drop the ceremonial first puck on Friday, February 2 at 7:30 pm. Puck drop is set for 7:00 pm Saturday when the team will don special Johnstown Red Wings jerseys as the team celebrates Hockey Heritage weekend.
