Stockdale Completes Comeback in 3-2 OT Win

JOHNSTOWN – The Johnstown Tomahawks completed a dramatic third-period comeback as they defeated the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights 3-2 in overtime moving their record to 33-5-0 on the season.
Scoring Breakdown:
1st Period Recap
  • The Tomahawks received two welcomed additions to the lineup as Mitch Hale and Pavel Kharin returned to the ice in this game.
  • It would Alex Wilkins to get the scoring started late in the first period. Carson Brière and Bennett Stockdale picked up the assists.
  • Wilkins’ point shot bounced past the outstretched glove of Knights netminder Zach Stejskal for his fourth of the season and a 1-0 lead for the Tomahawks.

  • The Tomahawks had their fair share of scoring chances on Stejskal but the 6-4 goaltender held strong.
  • WB/Scranton tied the game at 1-1 after Anthony Mastromonica’s wrist shot beat Tomahawks goalie Cooper Lukenda.

3rd Period Recap:
  • Knights forward Jake Fuss put the Knights in front 2-1 with his third of the season 2:27 into the period.
  • However, the Tomahawks battled back late in the period as Carson Brière fired home his 26th of the season to tie the game at 2-2.
Overtime Recap:
  • Tomahawks forward Bennett Stockdale chipped in the game-winning goal just 1:13 into the overtime frame. Brière notched his third assist of the game on Stockdale’s 12th of the season.
