Team Captains Named for 2019-20 Season

JOHNSTOWN, PA – Coach Mike Letizia announced Team Captains of the Johnstown Tomahawks for the 2019-20 season.

Chris Trouba will again wear the “C” for our Hawks, and will be joined by Assistant Captains Colin Price, Bennett Stockdale, Carson Gallagher, Pavel Kharin, and Matt Doyle.

We sat down with everyone and asked them what it means to them to be named a captain here in Johnstown.

“There is a long history of hockey in Johnstown and it is an honor to lead and represent this city every day.”
– Chris Trouba, #4, Defenseman

Just trust Trouba! In the past, Trouba has definitely been a key component in helping the Tomahawks to achieve a first-place ranking in the eastern division. Trouba ended the 2018-2019 season with 5 goals and 13 assists, totaling 18 points, with a +14 rating.

“It’s an honor to be chosen to represent the Tomahawks for another season. There are a lot of leaders on this team, whether they are wearing a letter or not. Myself and the other captains will do our best to represent this city and embody the Johnstown work ethic.”

Price returns to the ice! Price was a part of the 2018-2019 team that ended up in first place in the eastern division. He ended last season with 13 goals and assists, totaling 26 points with a +19 rating.

Stockdale scores another season! Stockdale, alongside Price and Trouba, was a big part of last season, including being a part of a division championship team postseason. He also put together an impressive stat line that including 17 goals, 22 assists, 39 points and a +8 rating.

“To be a captain for the Tomahawks organization is a huge honor. It means you can’t be afraid to hold your teammates accountable, but most importantly, to hold yourself accountable.

I have only been here for a few months, and the people of the Johnstown community are passionate and very accommodating to the team.”

The newcomer to the team! Carson Gallagher is playing alongside Tomahawks veterans and captains Trouba, Kharin, Price, Doyle and Stockdale. Even though he has only been with the team for a few months, Gallagher is eager to start the season off on the right foot alongside his teammates and coaches.

Buckle up baby are you “Kharin” me?! Kharin is no rookie when it comes to playing with the Tomahawks. His stats included 6 goals and 8 assists, totaling 14 points for the 2018-2019 season, alongside a +3 rating.

“It’s an honor to be named assistant captain here in Johnstown, where hockey has old roots. I’m going to try to lead by example and bring energy to the boys on and off the ice.”

Doyle does it again! Matt Doyle is another veteran on the Tomahawks, alongside Trouba, Kharin, and Price. Achieving 1 goal and 12 assists, totaling 13 points with a +9 rating, as well as being a part of eastern division champion team.

Tickets are still available for this weekend’s contests against the New Jersey Titans. Friday will feature a banner raising ceremony commemorating the 2018-19 season, which saw our Tomahawks skate away with the NAHL Regular Season and Division Titles, and we’ve got 2x Stanley Cup Champion Phil Bourque in the house to meet with fans!

Saturday, we join the effort to “Turn the Towns Teal” in partnership with the Ann Harris Smith Foundation to raise Ovarian Cancer Awareness. The Tomahawks will wear special teal jerseys which will be available to purchase online with DASH Auctions. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Ann Harris Smith Foundation.
