Team USA edges Johnstown 4-3 in OT

JOHNSTOWN – The Johnstown TOmahawks battled back to tie the game late but Team USA used an overtime goal to edge Johnstown 4-3.
The Tomahawks added the game’s first goal at the 9:40 mark of the first period when Alex Wilkin’s shot from the right circle found the back of the net behind USA goaltender Noah Grannan. Carson Brière picked up the assist.
In the second period, Team USA knotted the game up at 1-1 with a power play goal from Hunter McKown.
Minutes later, Team USA gained it’s first lead of the weekend with a wraparound goal from Ty Smilanic. USA skated into the second intermission with a 2-1 lead.
In the third period, Thomas Bordeleau increased the USA lead to 3-1 with an early goal.
But the Tomahawks would battle back into the game.
Forward Dom Posta chipped ina rebound past USA goalie Drew Commesso to cut the USA lead to 3-2.
With four minutes remaining in the third, Christian Gorscak tied the game at 3-3.
Both teams skated into overtime where Luke Tuch won the game for the Americans and set the final at 4-3.
