Third period comeback lifts Hawks to 4-3 Win

Johnstown, Pa – The Johnstown Tomahawks completed a three-goal comeback in the third period to beat visiting Kenai River Brown Bears 4-3.
Johnstown took the early lead only 2:28 into the period. Tomahawks’ forward, Pavel Kharin scored his second goal of the season. Ben Schmidling and Andrew Quetell picked up the assists.
The rest of the period, at least on the scoreboard, was all Kenai River.
The Brown Bears tied the game when Gil Garcia netted his fifteenth goal of the season. The assist went to David Kaplan at 6:33.
Then the Brown Bears took the 2-1 lead when Filip Karlsson scored his first goal of the season. The lone assist went to Gil Garcia.
A goal from Michael Spethmann gave the Brown Bears a 3-1 lead only fifty-five second later. The assist went to Luke Posner.
The period ended with the Brown Bears up 3-1.
In the second, the Tomahawks kept the Brown Bears from adding to their lead. Meanwhile, the Tomahawks couldn’t put any pucks past Kenai River’s goaltender, Artur Pavliukov.
The score remained 3-1 after two periods of play.
Midway through the third period, the Tomahawks scored their second goal of the game. The power play goal was scored by Carson Briere, his fourth of the season, at 10:59. The assists went to Toby Sengvongxay and Andy Nedeljkovic.
The Tomahawks then tied the game at three with a goal from Ben Schmidling, at 15:46 of the third period. The assist went to Toby Sengvongxay.
The Tomahawks pulled ahead, 4-3, with a goal from David Schmidling at 19:21. The assists went to Carson Briere and Mitchell Hale.
Kenai River could not tie the game in the dying moments and Johnstown picked up the 4-3 win.
The Tomahawks are back home next weekend for three games vs the Northeast Generals (January 12 -14 2018).

Celebrating Chopper’s birthday with mascot mania as well. First 500 fans will receive hand-clapper giveaway. Pre-game live music performance. Local celebrity appearance in the Slap-Shot Lounge during the 1st intermission.
Finally, on Sunday, January 14, 2018 it’s Sundae Funday. Ice Cream giveaway. It’s also Kids Club Game #2. There will be a post-game skate and autograph session. HAWKEY Bingo – watch, play, win! (first 1000).
