Tomahawks 2015-16 season schedule announced

Jul 13, 2015

Johnstown, Pa. – The regular season schedule for the Johnstown Tomahawks’ fourth season in the North American Hockey League was announced today.  The 2015-16 schedule sees the Tomahawks hosting a trio of new opponents in the NAHL’s newly formed East Division eight times each this season.

The Tomahawks open with eleven road games (including four games to be played at the NAHL Showcase in Blaine, Minn., from Sept. 23-26) in order to accommodate the time needed to complete more than $150,000 in renovations being completed at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena as part of Johnstown’s victory in the first Kraft Hockeyville USA contest.

Johnstown’s home schedule gets underway Oct. 16-17 as the Tomahawks host the New Jersey Titans, formerly the Soo Eagles.  Although the home promotional calendar is yet to be announced, the Friday night opener will again be preceded by “Hawkeyfest” activities outside the War Memorial Arena.

The Tomahawks then depart for their second trip to Alaska in two years for a pair of games against both the Kenai River Brown Bears and Fairbanks Ice Dogs.

The War Memorial’s next activity comes on Thursday morning, Nov. 12, as the Tomahawks hold their second annual “Hockey and Education Day” for visiting schools students as the team takes on another new division opponent, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights.  The Knights remain in Johnstown throughout the weekend to complete the three-game series.

The Tomahawks stay home for the next 10 games through Sunday, Dec. 6, with two three-game series against the Titans bookmarking a pair of post-Thanksgiving games against Johnstown’s final new East Division opponent, the Aston Rebels.

Johnstown next returns home to host the team’s traditional New Years Eve game in the opener of a two-game series against the Kenai River, followed by a pair of contests against the visiting Fairbanks Ice Dogs the following weekend.

Remaining home schedule highlights include three two-game series against Aston (Feb. 12-13, Feb. 26-27, and March 18-19), and two against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (Jan. 22-23 and March 11-12).  The Tomahawks round out the regular season at home on Saturday, April 2, against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
