Tomahawks Acquire Tender from Springfield

Jul 31, 2018

JOHNSTOWN – The Johnstown Tomahawks, proud members of the North American Hockey League, announced Tuesday that the team has traded forward Cade Groton to the Springfield Jr. Blues in exchange for a 2018-19 tender.
A native of Ashburn, Va., Groton played in 52 games for the Tomahawks in 2017-18, collecting three goals and five assists.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders – plus or minus any trades – which become active on Nov. 1.
The Tomahawks open the 2018-19 season on the road against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Friday, Sept. 14 at 4:30 p.m. The team returns to Johnstown for its home opener on Friday, Oct. 5 against the Jamestown Rebels at 7:30 p.m.
Individual ticket sales will be announced at a later date.
