Tomahawks and Titans Split Series

Oct 29, 2023

The Johnstown Tomahawks fell to the New Jersey Titans, 5-2 splitting the weekend series.

Captain Zach Aben swiftly put the Tomahawks ahead, netting an unassisted goal just shy of two minutes into the opening period. The clash between these two rival East Division Teams was marked by an aggressive first period. However, the Titans managed to spoil the Tomahawks’ lead by scoring two consecutive goals, leaving the Tomahawks trailing 1-2 as they headed to the locker room.

As tensions escalated in the second period, Tomahawks’ goalie Zack Ferris proved impenetrable, denying the Titans any chance to increase their lead. Then, with under three minutes left in the second period, Will Lawrence leveled the score at two, with his goal assisted by Nick White. This equalizer led both the Tomahawks and Titans to head into the locker room deadlocked at 2.

New Jersey opens the third period scoring at 15:53, claiming the lead. Just 20 seconds later, they furthered their advantage to a two-goal lead over the Tomahawks. Titans would once again go on to score on a power-play making it a 5-2 game in their favor. That would be the final goal of the game and the Titans would go on to defeat the Tomahawks.

Next weekend, the Tomahawks are scheduled for a two-game series against the Northeast Generals. The first game is set for Saturday at 7:00 PM, followed by the second game on Sunday at 4:00 PM.
