Tomahawks Bested by Generals Friday

Dec 30, 2022

The Northeast Generals got the best of the Johnstown Tomahawks Friday night with a 9-2 win at 1ST SUMMIT ARENA.

Northeast took an early 2-0 lead as Jake LaRusso and Nick Ramm both got on the board in the first 3:43 of the game. Nine minutes later, Jackson McCarthy netted a third goal for the Generals, with this one coming on the power play. McCarthy’s goal ended the night for Tomahawks netminder Alec Rajalin-Scharp as Colin Purcell went in between the pipes for the remainder of the game. After sorting out penalties with the bad blood boiling between the two teams, David Andreychuk netted a fourth and a second power play goal for the Generals, giving them a 4-0 lead to end the first 20.

Ryan Remick extended the lead to 5-0 for the Generals 6:38 into the second period. The Tomahawks responded as Nick Ahern got his team on the board with 9:53 remaining in the middle frame, resulting in a 5-2 Generals lead going into the third period.

Sixten Jennersjo made it a 6-1 lead for Northeast in the third period, followed by a response goal again from the Tomahawks as David Matousek made it a 6-2 lead for Northeast. Jennersjo tallied a second goal, followed by two more on the night from Nick Recupero and David Andreychuk to give the Generals a 9-2 win over the Tomahawks.

The two teams will face off again tomorrow night on New Year’s Eve as the Tomahawks look to even up the weekend. Puck drop is at 6 PM, with doors opening at 5, and tickets can be purchased at ticketmaster.com.
