The Johnstown Tomahawks defeated the Northeast Generals by a final score of 4-3, Friday evening.
Northeast dominated the first period, scoring two unanswered goals to take an early lead. But the Tomahawks turned the tide in the second period. Adam Ondris found the net for his sixth goal of the season, assisted by Cullen Emery and Caden Olenczak, putting the Tomahawks on the board. Just 13 seconds later, Sam Blanton tied the game on a power play with an assist from Lukas Klemm. Northeast thought they had regained the lead, but after an official review, their goal was disallowed for starting before the whistle. Ondris then struck again, scoring his second goal of the period with an assist from Blanton, giving the Tomahawks their first lead of the night. The game then saw a lengthy delay when a collision caused a major glass break. The teams would head into an early intermission before completing the final two minutes of the period.
After returning from a delayed game, the Tomahawks and Generals would finish the final two minutes of the second period. There would be no change in score and the Tomahawks would lead, 3-2.
The third period opened with Nick Jarmain scoring an unassisted goal, extending the Tomahawks’ lead to 4-2 over the Northeast Generals. With four consecutive unanswered goals, the Tomahawks aimed to secure the first win in their four-game series against the Generals. However, the Generals responded with a goal three minutes before the end of regulation, narrowing the gap to one. Despite the late push, the Tomahawks held on to win with a final score of 4-3. Goaltender Zack Ferris was outstanding, making 47 saves on 50 shots to seal the victory.
