Tomahawks Defeat Generals Friday Night

The Johnstown Tomahawks defeated the Northeast Generals Friday night at 1ST SUMMIT ARENA by a final score of 6-4.

Jared Scott opens the scoring 9:16 into the 1st period for the Generals. Just 44 seconds later, Jacob Badal scored his sixth goal of the season to tie the game up at 1. A minute and a half later, Jake Black scored his 13th of the season to give the Tomahawks a 2-1 lead in the opening period.

Northeast ties the game back up 10:08 into the 2nd period with a goal from Ryan Gordon at the 10:08 mark, followed by a goal from Kyle Schroeder two minutes later to give the Generals a 3-2 lead. 30 seconds later, Stephen Kyrkostas tied it back up for the Tomahawks. With 5:19 remaining in the 2nd period, Dusty Geregach netted his fourth goal of the season to give the Tomahawks a 4-3 lead going into the 3rd period.

Despite a quiet opening to the 3rd period, Ryan Vellucci gave the Tomahawks a little bit of separation in the scoring to go up 5-3 with his second goal of the season. With 3:36 remaining in regulation, Black sealed the deal for the Tomahawks with his second goal of the game to make it 6-3 in Johnstown’s favor. Northeast’s player name scored late in regulation to make it a two-goal game, but the Tomahawks held on to win 6-4.
