Tomahawks Defeat Jr. Hat Tricks Friday Afternoon

The Johnstown Tomahawks earned a road win over the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks with a 7-2 win Friday afternoon.

Captain Holt Oliphant opened the scoring Friday afternoon, getting the Tomahawks on the board just 4:23 into the game. Five minutes later, Jazz Krivtsov netted a power play goal for the Jr. Hat Tricks and tied the game at 1. 45 seconds later, Zack Murray scored his 18th goal of the season to put the Tomahawks back on top quickly. Oliphant scored again with just over three minutes to go in the period, sending the Tomahawks into the locker room up 3-1.

David Matousek extended the lead for the Tomahawks early in the 2nd to make it a 4-1 game for Johnstown. Just about midway through the period, Gabe Dombrowski netted a second power play goal for Danbury, making it a two-goal deficit for the Jr. Hat Tricks.

In the 3rd period Stephen Kyrkostas and Zach Stoner scored for the Tomahawks, extending to a 6-2 lead with just over eight minutes remaining in the game. Matousek netted his second goal of the game with 2:31 left, closing out the game to give the Tomahawks a 7-2 win.

The Tomahawks and Jr. Hat Tricks face off again tomorrow, Saturday February 4 at 3 PM for another afternoon game from Danbury, Connecticut.
