Tomahawks Defeat Nordiques

The Johnstown Tomahawks secured a comeback win against the Maine Nordiques in their first trip to Lewiston this season, winning 5-3 against the Nordiques.

Both sides came out flying in the opening period, but Maine prevailed getting the opening goal from Theo Thrun 2:48 into the game. 3:53 later, Jonny Meiers makes it a 2-0 game for the Nordiques in the 1st period. After the two teams exchanged penalties, the Tomahawks got on the board with a goal from Ryan Vellucci in the later stages of the period, to make it a one-goal game going into the 2nd period.

Despite taking three penalties in the period, the Tomahawks left the 2nd with the only goal as Egan Schmitt tied the game at two for the Tomahawks, scoring his sixth goal of the season.

With 5:32 remaining in regulation, Sean Ramsay scored for the Tomahawks on the deflection from Jacob Badal’s initial shot, giving the Tomahawks a 4-3 lead. Jack Black secured the empty net goal under a minute to go in regulation to give the Tomahawks a 5-3 win in Maryland Friday night.
