TOMAHAWKS DEFEAT NORDIQUES

The Johnstown Tomahawks defeated the Maine Nordiques by a final score of 5-4.

The initial period kicked off with a high level of intensity as the male teams vied for crucial two points. The Tomahawks took the lead by breaking the ice with a goal from Alexey Yarmulnik, assisted by Reid Lune. While tensions escalated throughout the rest of the period, the Tomahawks concluded it by heading to the locker room with a one-goal advantage over the Maine Nordiques.

The scoring in the second period began just three minutes in, courtesy of the Nordiques. Goaltender Jacob Osborne displayed remarkable prowess, thwarting goal after goal despite Maine’s determined efforts. Hayes Hundley then propelled the Tomahawks to a 2-1 lead with an unassisted goal. A mere 22 seconds later, Captain Zach Aben widened the Tomahawk’s lead to 3-1, assisted by Will Lawrence and Nick. However, Maine managed to close out the period with a goal of their own, narrowing the Tomahawk’s lead to 3-2 by the conclusion of the second period.

In the third period, Maine struck first by finding the back of the net. However, the Tomahawks swiftly responded with a goal from Justin Rapp, reclaiming the lead. In the final minute, the Nordiques managed to tie the game at 4-4, forcing it into overtime. Despite both teams failing to score in the extra minutes, the East Division rivals had to settle the outcome through a shootout. Hayes Hundley emerged as the shootout winner, securing a 5-4 victory for the Johnstown Tomahawks.
