TOMAHAWKS DEFEATED IN OVERTIME

The Johnstown Tomahawks were defeated in overtime by the Janesville Jets by a final score of 5-4 in the final game of the NAHL Showcase.

Lukas Klemm opened the scoring for the Tomahawks on a power play, assisted by Cullen Emery and Luke Sakala, giving Johnstown an early lead. Nine minutes later, Janesville responded during 4-on-4 play to tie the game at 1-1, and that’s how the first period ended.

Janesville struck quickly in the second, scoring just 27 seconds into the period, and added another goal four minutes later, extending their lead to two.

In the third period, Hank Reed notched his first goal of the season, assisted by Nick White, cutting the Jets’ lead. Just two minutes later, Adam Ondris tied the game at 3-3 with a goal assisted by Sam Blanton. Janesville regained the lead, but Lukas Klemm answered with his second goal of the game, assisted by Luke Sakala, tying it at 4-4 and sending the game to overtime.

In the extra period, it was Janesville who found the winner, as the Tomahawks fell 5-4.

The Tomahawks return home next weekend for their home opener against the Maine Nordiques. Friday’s game starts at 7:30 PM, and fans will receive a magnet schedule while supplies last.
