Tomahawks Dominate Hat Tricks Friday Afternoon

Dec 3, 2021

The Johnstown Tomahawks had a demanding 8-2 win Friday afternoon on the road against the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks.

The Tomahawks started the game with a 5-on-3 just 24 seconds into the game, which Danbury killed off. Stephen Kyrkostas got a breakaway opportunity, which was stopped by Josh Seeley. Then Zack Murray got the rebound and put it in to get the Tomahawks on the board with a shorthanded goal 5:04 in. Shortly after, Danbury tied it up at one with a goal from Luka Sukovic. Just when it seemed like the period was going to end tied, Noah Wagner scored his second goal of the season with only seven seconds to go in the period, giving the Tomahawks a 2-1 lead going into the 1st intermission.

The Tomahawks came out flying in the 2nd period with goals from Jacob Badal, Frank Jenkins and Stephen Kyrkostas all coming at even strength.

Danbury started the 3rd with a goalie change, having Adam Johnson take over between the pipes for the Jr. Hat Tricks. The Tomahawks were still successful in finding the back of the net though as David Matousek and Sean Ramsay added to Johnstown’s goal total early in the 3rd making it 7-1. Jenkins netted his second goal of the game on the power play 8:37 into the final period. Boris Skalos found the back of the net for Danbury one more time in the game, scoring to make the final 8-2 Friday afternoon in Danbury.

The Tomahawks are back home at 1ST SUMMIT ARENA next weekend on Friday, December 10 and Saturday, December 11 for two games against the New Jersey Titans. Don’t forget that Saturday night’s game will be our annual Teddy Bear Toss game presented by Buddy’s Christmas Wish. Bring new stuffed animals to throw on the ice after the Tomahawks first goal.
