JOHNSTOWN – The Johnstown Tomahawks used two first-period goals and a 28 save performance from their goaltender to capture a 3-2 victory over the New Jersey Titans Friday night at the Cambria County Warm Memorial.

New Jersey cracked the scoreless tie midway through the first period when Anthony Cusanelli followed up his own rebound and scored his eleventh of the season.

The Tomahawks knotted the score a one goal a piece at the 4:08 mark in the first period when Ryan Burr feathered a wrist shot behind Titans netminder Jack Berry. For Burr, the goal represented his first of the year.

Casey Linkenheld put Johnstown up 2-1 with his seventh goal with less than a minute to go in the period. Luke Lynch and Andrew Romano earned the assists on the goal.

Johnstown increased its lead to 3-1 when Kelly O’Brien fired home a shot past Berry on the power play. Alex Alger and Lynch tallied the helpers.

The Titans answered back minutes later with a power play goal of their own. Darren Brady’s wrist shot from the right circle found its way past Tomahawks goalie Ryan Glander and cut the Johnstown lead to 3-2.

Both teams traded chances on the man advantage and while even strength but the Tomahawks would hold the fort and pick up the 3-2 victory.

Glander picked up his second consecutive victory, stopping 28 Titans shots. His record with the Tomahawks improves to 2-0-0.

The Tomahawks are back at the Cambria County War Memorial Saturday Nov. 21 and Sunday Nov. 22. For tickets, call 1-800-745-3000 or stop by the War Memorial box office.
