Tomahawks Drop Physical Contest To Titans

Middletown, N.J.– The Johnstown Tomahawks and New Jersey Titans engaged in a physical battle on Saturday Night at Middletown Ice World. In the end, the Titans came away with the 7-3 victory.

 

New Jersey got on the board first, as Andrew Durham scored 21 seconds into the second period. Keegan Miller added the assist on the goal.

 

Zak Galambos tied the game, scoring on a shot from the right side of the slot at 1:24 of the second period. Justin Cmunt and Luke Lynch added the assists on the goal.

 

The Titans regained the lead later in the second period, as Miller scored at 6:58. They extended the lead, as Michael Gelatt scored a shorthanded breakaway goal at 10:34.

 

Victor Ostling gave New Jersey a 4-1 lead at 15:25 of the second period. Joseph Schuler and Bruno Birzitis added assists on the goal.

 

Austins Heakins pulled the Tomahawks back within one, scoring 2:59 into the third period. Galambos picked up the assist on the goal.

 

Jese Farabee and Adam Hascic scored at 6:27 and 8:29 to give the Titans a 6-2 lead.

 

Niko Coffman gave Johnstown its third goal of the game, scoring at 13:04. Kelly O’Brien and Alex Alger tallied the assists on the power-play goal.

 

Anthony Cusanelli set the final score with a goal at 17:18.

 

Jack Berry earned the win, stopping 17 of 20 shots. Mitchell Gibson suffered the loss in his Tomahawks debut, stopping 31 of 38 shots. The Tomahawks went 1-for-5 on the power-play and 5-for-5 on the penalty kill.
