The Johnstown Tomahawks fell to the New Hampshire Mountain Kings in their season opener with a final score of 7-1.
Despite outshooting the Mountain Kings in the first two periods, the Tomahawks found themselves down 2-0 heading into the third. The Mountain Kings managed to score one goal in each of the first two periods, building their lead as tensions mounted on the ice.
Early in the third period, Lukas Klemm was ejected for boarding, and the Mountain Kings capitalized on the power play, scoring twice within 10 seconds to extend their lead to 4-0. Shortly after, Isaac Rentmeester was also ejected for fighting. The Mountain Kings continued to dominate, adding three more goals to make it 7-0. However, with just 52 seconds left in the game, Ryan Flaherty scored the Tomahawks’ first goal of the season, assisted by Dylan Shane and Sean Morgan. The game ended with a 7-1 loss for Johnstown.
