Tomahawks Earn Two Points Over Titans

The Johnstown Tomahawks defeated the New Jersey Titans on the road in Middletown 4-3 in overtime Friday night.

The Tomahawks found the back of the net first on Friday night as Egan Schmitt scored his 13th goal of the season 6:30 into the game. As time went on, Jake Black netted his league-leading 40th goal of the season with 1:13 remaining, ending the 1st period with Johnstown ahead over New Jersey 2-0.

New Jersey’s Nick Ring made it a one-goal game 6:28 into the middle frame. Despite the back and forth penalties, Ring’s eighth of the season was the only of the period, leaving the Tomahawks hanging on to the lead over the Titans 2-1.

The Tomahawks start the 3rd strong with Braedon Ford giving his team a 3-1 lead, but New Jersey responded with a goal from Chris Carroll less than three minutes later. Michael Young then tied the game up for New Jersey at 3 with 5:39 remaining in regulation, forcing overtime in New Jersey on Friday night.

Along with the opener, Schmitt closed out the night with his second goal of the game to give the Tomahawks the 4-3 win over the Titans in overtime.

The two teams face off for the final time this season on tomorrow, April 2 as Johnstown’s push for the playoffs continues. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 PM from Middletown.
