Tomahawks Earn Weekend Sweep Over Titans

The Johnstown Tomahawks earned a weekend sweep against the New Jersey Titans in Middletown this weekend, with a 4-1 win Saturday night.

David Wilcox scores his fourth goal of the season to open the scoring for the Tomahawks on Saturday night. Wilcox’s goal would be the only of the opening period, giving Johnstown a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.

The Tomahawks extended their lead to 2-0 with a goal from captain Holt Oliphant 6:35 into the 2nd period, followed by a goal from Zachary Murray with 4:38 remaining in the middle frame, giving the Tomahawks a 3-0 lead to start the final period of the weekend.

New Jersey finally got a puck behind Matt O’Donnell 6:11 into the 3rd period as Ryan Coughlin put his team on the board. Oliphant netted his second goal of the game with the empty net, to give the Tomahawks a 4-1 win against the first place Titans.

The Tomahawks head to Maine next weekend for two games against the Nordiques before they return home April 15 and 16 to face off against Danbury to close out the regular season.
