Johnstown led 4-2 going into the third period, but Springfield scored four unanswered goals, including Mike Fazio’s game-winner with 1:50 remaining, to give the Jr. Blues a 6-4 win Sunday afternoon at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena.

Johnstown’s Andrew McDonald started the scoring with a stick-side goal less than five minutes into the game. Springfield (8-8-2) would quickly make it a 2-1 with goals from Ryan Atkinson and Trevor Stone just 19 seconds apart. Atkinson’s goal was his fourth in two games, following his hat trick in Saturday night’s game.

Johnstown (7-6-6) tied the game 2-2 on a Connor Wright shot past the glove of Ryan Kellenberger. Mitch Kontny gave the Tomahawks a 3-2 lead with his team-leading eighth goal of the season at 13:00. Kontny’s goal extended his point scoring streak to four games (8-5-12)

Connor Wright finished the Tomahawks scoring with less than a minute remaining in the second period.

Springfield received third period goals from Mike Severson, Devin Mitchell, and Nate Chasteen, who scored on an empty net after Brennan was pulled with 1:15 left in the game.

Johnstown’s home record is now 5-3-2.

The Tomahawks face the Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings Friday, Nov. 9 and Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena.
