Tomahawks Fall 3-1; Split Weekend Series with Titans

Oct 9, 2021

The Johnstown Tomahawks and New Jersey Titans split their weekend series as the Titans earned a 3-1 win Saturday night in Middletown, New Jersey.

The Tomahawks picked it up right where they left off yesterday as Jake Black found the back of the net on the first shot of the game 2:47 in with Johnstown on the power play, making it 1-0 early. The Titans came out with a little more heat to their game and getting under the Tomahawks skin with a handful of penalties in the 1st. Michael Young tied things up for the Titans late in the 1st period, sending the game to the 2nd tied at 1.

After Johnstown took a few penalties in the early stages of the 2nd period, the Titans got their revenge in the final few minutes with Jake LaRusso and Anthony Calafiore each scoring their first goals of the season give the Titans a 3-1 lead to work with going into the final 20 minutes of the weekend in Middletown.

New Jersey had ample opportunity to extend their lead in the 3rd period, but Johnstown weathered the storm early, keeping the Titans off the board. The Tomahawks couldn’t find their way back into the game, giving New Jersey a 3-1 win to split the weekend series.

The Tomahawks are back at 1ST SUMMIT ARENA Friday, October 15, and Saturday October 16 for a two-gamer against the Maine Nordiques. Saturday night’s contest will feature Domestic Violence Awareness Night Presented by Victim Services. The Tomahawks are asking for fans to donate a new pair of leggings at the game for the “Begging for Leggings” campaign.
