Oct 22, 2021

The Johnstown Tomahawks fall to the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks Friday night in overtime by a final of 4-3 on the road.

Johnny Ulicny opens the scoring for the Tomahawks 37 seconds into the game with an unassisted goal. Despite taking two penalties in the first 20 minutes, the Tomahawks kept the Jr. Hat Tricks off the board and Ulicny netted his second of the game with 2:28 remaining in the opening frame to put Johnstown up 2-0 going into the 1st intermission.

8:38 into the 2nd period, Jake Black scores, extending his point streak to 11 games and putting the Tomahawks up 3-0 against Danbury. Just a minute and a half later, the Jr. Hat Tricks rallied for two goals in 33 seconds to make it a one-goal game, still in favor of the Tomahawks with 9:24 remaining in the middle frame.

Going into the 3rd period, Danbury tied the game at 3 with a goal from Peter Lychnikoff 9:26 into the 3rd period. Despite each team having a power play opportunity in the late stages of the 3rd, neither side found the go-ahead goal, sending the game to overtime.

1:38 into the sudden death overtime period, Danbury’s Joshua Burke seals the deal for the Jr. Hat Tricks giving them the 4-3 win Friday night.

The Tomahawks faceoff against the Jr. Hat Tricks again tomorrow, Saturday, October 30 at 8 PM at Danbury Ice Arena as they try to even up the weekend series on the road.
